Payment Terms

The Payment Terms tab manages reusable payment configurations that control due dates, deposit requirements, and payment conditions on invoices and quotes.

Integration with Invoices

Payment terms control invoice workflow:

  • Due dates: Calculated automatically from invoice date + term
  • Default pre-fill: Business default loads on new invoices
  • Client override: Client-specific terms auto-apply
  • Display: Terms appear on client-facing invoices

Best practices

For invoicing

  • Set Net 30 as business default (AU standard)
  • Use shorter terms for new clients
  • Consider deposits for large projects
  • Include BSB/account in payment details
  • Review terms for consistently late payers

Cash flow

  • Shorter terms = better cash flow
  • Deposits reduce payment risk
  • Clear terms reduce disputes
  • Consistent application builds trust

AU-specific notes

  • BSB/Account: Include Australian banking details
  • ABN: May reference ABN for tax compliance
  • Contract terms: Align with AU contract law
  • Late payment: Consider AU consumer law
